// YOGA //

Yoga is an excellent complementary activity to climbing. It can help improve your flexibility, core strength, and focus - all essential qualities for good climbing technique. We are now hosting yoga courses at Boulder Brighton in our upstairs teaching space so that you can easily incorporate yoga into your regular routine.

Yoga at SIX

This year at our anniversary comp day SIX on Saturday 30th March, you'll get the chance to try some yoga for free!

Between and after the comps (13:00-14:00 and 18:00-19:00), Leo will be offering yoga for climbers upstairs, to stretch, ease out and prepare body and mind. Including some self massage (how to use spiky balls between and after climbs to improve and extend your sessions) and some partner work. These sessions will be fun and accessible to all, and Leo can adapt to include and help ease out any climbing-related strains and tension within the class.

Monday night / Tuesday morning Yoga

Classes run on Monday evenings, 7.30-9pm
NEW Tuesday morning class, 10:15-11:15

Leo is a Senior Yoga Teacher and Mentor in the Vajrasati School of Yoga, and also an enthusiastic climber.

Leo’s teaching is accessible and adaptive; students are encouraged to progress safely at their own pace, building up intuition and trust as much as strength, tone and flexibility.

Vajrasati yoga encourages students to creatively explore and unlock held tension and patterns in the body through yoga asana, ‘poses’, which may be dynamic or slow and held, depending on the needs of the individual, as well as breath work and meditation techniques that can evolve greater focus and stamina for climbing.

Leo will develop classes around particular themes – hip flexors, shoulder mobility, core strength, body balance and alignment, etc – as well as offering simple warm up and warm down routines, and stretches suitable for between climbs, allowing you to develop mat to wall.

Vajrasati yoga is for every body – whatever your level of experience or flexibility. Let Leo know if you have particular injuries so she can adapt the practise for you too.

Yoga sessions are drop-in, pay Leo directly on the day. Block bookings can be made for a reduced cost, and there are concession discounts available for BB Unlimited members, NUS and UC - just ask Leo for details.

Mondays 19:30-21:00 (1.5hrs) - £10
NEW Tuesdays 10:15-11:15 (1 hr) - £7

Alternatively, Move GB members can benefit from a free taster class and subsequent lessons as part of their monthly package - click the logo for details:

There's no need to book, just turn up on the night. In the event that sessions fill up, it will be first come, first served.

Basic yoga mats are provided, but please bring your own mat if you have one.

All payment should be made directly to Leo on the night. Please make sure you still check in at the Boulder Brighton front desk when you arrive, and let us know you're here for yoga.
