Skinners' School and Brighton College win the U16 and Senior categories

On the 28th April we held our second annual BB Inter-Schools competition. From its start last year this has already grown into a big competition, and this year we were joined by sixteen schools fielding competitors across the U16 and Senior categories.

There were some fantastic individual efforts in the qualifying round, with Tai Tewkesbury (Cardinal Newman) scoring an unmatched perfect score of 250, with Jake Collins (St Andrews) and Dan Johnston (Skinners') hot on his heels with a very strong score of 244 each. However, it was strength and depth within each school team that we were looking for, with the three schools with the highest combined totals from their best three climbers going through to the Finals.

It was great to see so many of the schools staying to watch Skinner's School, Hove Park School, Hurstpierpoint College, Brighton College and Christ's Hospital compete for the top spots in the Finals. We set six tough blocs for them to try, and each team got to choose which of their three climbers would attempt which problem in each round.

In the end, we saw some fantastic determined climbing, with some particularly strong performances in the U16 category. The final results were:

U16 comp

1st: Skinners' School (Dan Johnston, Josh Chillington, Tom Donno)
2nd: Hove Park School (Roberto Kroonsare, Alfie Thomas, Carter Carey-Poynting)
3rd: Hustpierpoint College (Sam Ericson, Joel Bevan, Eric Hanssen)

1st: Brighton College (Kerem Ergene, Finley Thomas, Alfie Gee)
2nd: Hurstpierpoint College (Maxim Taite-Ellis, Alexander Norden, Will Leach)
3rd: Christ's Hospital (Amy Henchoz, Max Thomas, Alexander Witchell)
