Our fun and friendly monthly comp nights are back!
After a break over the summer, the Boulder Brighton ABK monthly comp series returns with extra problems, top-level route-setting and our trademark friendly vibe.
There will be 4 rounds in total, monthly on selected Fridays at 6.30, with a break in December for Blokfest.
For this Winter series, we're extending the number of problems to 25 for each round, to make sure there are even more problems for you to have a go at across the grade range.
Problems will start at about 3A and will end in the 7s at the hard end. This will be a fun competition ideal for any climbers looking for a bit of a challenge, with a good mix of lower and higher grade climbs within the range, and scores will be tracked over the series.
If you've never tried a competition before, this is an ideal way to give it a go - no pressure, just lots of fun new blocs and a scoresheet for you to keep your own score with over the evening.
DJ Shreddie will be on hand at the decks to make sure the room is pumping and no-one is short of psych.
Each round will feature prizes from ABK Clothing, some Boulder Brighton swag - PLUS, if you hand in your score sheet and stick around for prize-giving at the end of the night, one lucky climber in the room at random will win a month's free climbing.
As well as prizes for each round's winners, we'll also be awarding a Series winner prize to the climber with the highest total from their best 3 rounds, meaning that if you miss a round you can still be in with a shot at the series title. Most of the routes will be left up to try over the rest of the month, but make sure you enter on the comp night to be in with a chance of winning the ABK goodies or some Boulder Brighton swag.
Competition entry on the night will be included in your regular centre entry, and routes will open for climbing at 6.30pm. No need to register for the competition in advance, just turn up on the night and grab your scoresheet. (New visitors to Boulder Brighton should register online in advance to use the centre - see www.boulderbrighton.com/register)
If you just want to come down for a regular climb, that's fine too - the centre will be open as normal.
